spyware protection for mac

What is the best virus protection software for Mac?
I'd prefer a free, I could download. I am looking for a good program, more than anything. I want to make it easy to use. If it does adware and spyware that would be great. Yes, I know that people do not many viruses for Mac certainly are not immune. I want to be ahead of the curve though. Protect my Mac when I was still time.
